University Museum and Collection

While the 2003 closing of the University of Arkansas’s museum generated some dismay, the University’s collection, begun over 114 years ago, still exists. Extensive collections in archaeology, ethnography, geology, history, physical anthropology, botany, and zoology are currently stored at the UA Fayetteville Research Station of the Arkansas Archeological Survey. Over seven million objects are stored and cared for in the Survey’s state-of-the-art storage and research facilities. However, the ability to exhibit these objects is limited to one hallway of special storage cabinets located at the Survey and a few more climate controlled cabinets at the Fulbright College offices located in the Old Main building on campus.
